As Far As I Can Tell

City of brotherly love

I spent last weekend in Philadelphia, flying in on Thursday night and leaving Sunday. It was my first time there, and now that I’m back I realize I’d never really given it much thought before. I had no mental image of it, no concrete preconceived notions. Like watching a movie without seeing a trailer, which is really my preferred way to discover things.

I was visiting my brother, who moved there nearly 3 months ago. His apartment is near downtown and we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted. We ate good food, shopped for records and clothes, watched a movie, and saw Hayden perform. It was a great weekend, and one that gave me a favorable first opinion of Philly. There’s plenty of art, culture, and history while remaining laid back by east coast standards.

Interesting decoration that covers many buildings in Philly

Yesterday the Rocket Star Cafe website finally went live. No real promotion has been done for it yet, but word of mouth must be working since people have been signing up for the online Rocket Log. I plan on doing a more complete post about it later, including a separate technical write up.

Very nice work on the RSC. I like the mix of muted and bright colours. Good stuff indeed. Look forward to reading about it more.

But did you see anyone dressed as B. Franklin complete with a Torries style wig? Did you run a dainty finger down the crack of the Liberty Bell?

Oh yeah. I also helped the great-great-great granddaughter of Betsy Ross sew together some American flags.
