As Far As I Can Tell

Put your number on this paper

I don’t think it’s the weather making me feel bad, but today’s brief heat made for a happy lunch. Paper in hand I walked with my coffee and scarf. There was just enough chill to justify tying it in a tight knot around my neck instead of letting it blow free. Lunch breaks are a necessary savior. I can’t take my break inside with a packed lunch, or go somewhere with co-workers; I need that hour for escape.

I’ve given in a bought a cell phone. For years I’ve been against them, mainly as I watched people become more and more careless and disregarding of others in their use. It’s bad when your Grandpa tells you “Welcome to the modern world”.

It’s nice. I knew it would be. I’m stubborn.

Last weekend I saw Magnolia Electric Company in Chicago and hung out with Ivo, Eric, and Ed. All weekend I listened to rap or electronic music except for the show. The contrast was extreme, but normal as of late. B.I.G. and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Fuck it, I’ll put them on a mix cd together.

oh man. I love Songs:Ohia. Although the Magnolia Electric album is not my favorite S:O album, I would love to see it live. Every time I’ve seen S:O it’s just him solo with a guitar.

I think he’s playing consistently with the band now. Songs:Ohia has officially changed their/his name to be Magnolia Electric Company. One cool thing is that at the show they played only songs off of their new album they were recording that week.

For the next album won’t they become The Pyramid Electric Co.? I have so much bootleg S:O material it’s not even funny.

hit me up with some of that shit, Brendan. jason molina is *so* amazing live. on top of his heartwrenching performance skills… he’s also so damn cute. he’s like a little elf, smiling away… crooning… this is the first time i’ve seen him as the M.E.C. saw him one other time solo w/ gtr. the other time, the guys from arab strap backed him up. he should play kraftbrau. i’ll work on that.
