As Far As I Can Tell

New Year, New Domain, Mexico Photos

For its fourth birthday I bought my weblog its own domain name. Its little webby pages are happy to finally be first class resource locators. I also moved everything over to a new server, Dreamhost. I plan on hosting all of my websites to Dreamhost now because I couldn’t pass up the amazing deal they’re offering; no more bandwidth problems for me.

Chances are you’ve been automatically redirected from the old address, so make sure to update your bookmarks. All links should be properly redirecting and the only hiccup might be double posts in your RSS reader. Take note that there’s only one feed now since Feedburner will automatically make sure it works for everybody.

Since I’ve last written I completed my online portfolio over at currentform.com and spent the last 10 days of December in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico with my family. Spending Christmas on the beach seemed strange, but not once did I long for the snow.

My first full day back was New Years Eve and the first of year was spent in Chicago visiting with Meredith’s sister who made a surprise holiday visit to the Midwest. Here are some photos from Mexico:

Photo from Mexico Fearing terrible weather we left for the airport at midnight for our 8a.m. flight. We beat the storm and snoozed at the airport.

Photo from Mexico Our resort was fabulous: two pools, unlimited food, free drinks, and walking distance from Playa Del Carmen.

Photo from Mexico I really enjoyed being by the ocean, especially at night.

Photo from Mexico Our rooms were like little apartments, each with its own porch.

Photo from Mexico One day we went to the island of Cozumel and rented a VW.

Photo from Mexico The coastline on the far side of the island is rockier and unspoiled by development.

Photo from Mexico The Mayan ruins of Chichn-Itz showcase the advanced astrological and mathematical knowledge of the ancient civilization.

Photo from Mexico This sinkhole cave has a tree with roots that stretch 40 feet down to find water. It was really amazing.

Photo from Mexico Yes, I’m actually wearing shorts.

I like this colour palette quite a bit. That aside, I dig the new portfolio quite a bit. Nice work.

Thanks everyone, hopefully I’ll start posting more. At this point I have the time, just not the motivation. Naz: congrats on your recent K10K link.
